What is the connection between sheep and sex jokes?

For example the line in "Ten Things I Hate About You": "Maybe if we were the last two people alive, and there were no sheep. Are there sheep?"

It's sad that I know this, but it's true. The female animal whose sexual organs are most similar to that of a humans is a sheep.
